Somebody doing the platters spinning out of a hard drive trick has been posted to Digg a couple of times. It's funny to watch.

I think I follow what the complaint is -- it means the hard drive is being accessed (audibly) constantly, whether or not they're actually doing anything. In other words, the system doesn't have enough memory to deal with all the background stuff going on.

So either they need more memory or they need to purge the memory-intensive spyware and viruses collected from all those porn sites they've been visiting.
