Apparently people didn't feel it until tonight. Our phones exploded!

I got two calls about this, on the Mac line, right before I clocked off. I sent them off to tech land. Hadn't seen an alert about this. What's the details on this?

As far as I know it seems to be a Windows Exploit on IE6 only possibly combo'ed with a Trojan Horse.

I just don't understand how people end up with these things so easily though. What are they *doing*? Constantly browsing to shitty warez/porn sites or something? I've honestly never had a virus and only once had a minor spyware thing. And I dont go to any extremes, I dont even run realtime scanning.

I'd like to know what these people are doing as well, but I'm with you. I'm the same way. Stick to maybe 2 or 3 websites at most.

Thank goodness the users I support don't have permissions to access MSIE and we're going to be using Firefox 2 once it gets out of beta testing.

I got stung with an exe which was opened on my machine - filled with malware, spyware, adware, etc. Bastard of a thing has pretty much ruined my OS.

At least it's not Windows ME, I suppose.

We were getting it to work by disabling 3rd party extensions in Inet Opt. Meh... not the perfect fix... but it was quick and calmed down the phone lines.

We were doing the same for a while, then we decided...you know what?

"Due to a recent Windows Update, Microsoft has caused a vulnerability, which has compromised IE. We recommend updating your anti virus, doing a full system scan, and contacting Microsoft."

I still walked them through the settings however, even if it may be temporary.
