OK, this is making me pull my hair out...
Aug. 17th, 2006 03:50 pmSo yeah. yesterday I can't get our GhostCast console to even _talk_ to a machine remotely.
Today? works just like cake. the only thing I've changes is that I deleted and recreated the task for it in the attempt to make it think it was executing as a user who is here, and not the user who left and imparted me with his knowledge of the process (however small that was)
This is annoying. More annoying then 1000 lusers all screaming at me asking why the POS server is down, and how long it'll be before it's back up. Not My Problem, someone else is wielding that whip and cattle prod.
Ah Rage and annoyance, My old friends. And here I thought I had Recovered.

Date: 2006-08-17 11:04 pm (UTC)I've come to an agreement with my main machine (achilles). It doesn't misbehave, and I don't force a SoundBlaster Live on it.
I need to find something to hold over the other computer (odysseus, and yes these names are chosen deliberately) though. Adding a Promise IDE card caused it to eat the (already fragile) linux install and spit it back out, then proceed to do the same to the FreeBSD installer. Grrr.
