I just ended a call with a guy whose mail from a certain domain was being filtered due to profanity.

The message header was being scanned, and one of the hops was from a router in the sender's network named "fatbastard."

Heh.

Too bad all the machines on my home LAN are all astronomically named, otherwise I'd change them all over to something more intersting.

Well, I could call one machine uranus.

::ducks::

Side note: All the primary servers at $work are named after some of the great comedians, both in physical comedy and mental comedy.

It seems that at our government institution, an SF-TV fan got to the backend Unix machines before the official psuedo-random-string naming conventions were drafted by the usual humorless bastards.

So various parts of the architecture were named after TV spaceships and bases. Jupiter2 and Jupiter3, Babylon5 and Whitestar, and Starbug1 all made appearances. Eventually they got 'official' aliases, but it was still easier to talk shop by using the original names.
