More Evil Manager
Jun. 29th, 2006 04:26 pmA couple of weeks ago, Corporate sent out an email describing a new policy, Summer Hours.
All normal 9-5 employees, for the rest of the summer, are permitted to leave at 3pm instead of 5pm on Fridays. In departments where this schedule is not feasible... like, say, the support desks where coverage has to be maintained until midnight... then managers are responsible for individually arranging a schedule by which each employee can get two hours off each week.
Today the evil manager sends out the following email:
She then goes on to solicit bids for overtime. If anyone asks me, I'm going to tell them that I'm already working four extra hours - two tonight, when I should be going home early, and two next Thursday, when again I should be going home early. I might volunteer to come in at 3 instead of 3:30 next week just to further annoy people. Complying with the letter of the law, not the spirit.
Just to add mustard sauce to the whole mess, my team lead... who's very cool 99% of the time... emailed a notice out to everyone on Wednesday that he would be on vacation Thurday and Friday... and then proceeded to come over and ask me if I'd come in on my scheduled day off.
"What? No. It's my day off."
"Well you can still come in, make some extra money. You need some extra money, don't you?"
"No. No, I don't. How're you gonna go on vacation Friday and then expect me to come in on my day off?"
I'm a big fan of lead by example, and follow the example of the leaders.
[Edit] If y'all are sick of hearing about her, lemme know and I'll stop posting.
[Edit 2] I somehow forgot to mention that Evil Manager is on vacation from today through the end of next week while all this is going on.
