Helping the infected is easy and just about welcome at this point. Dealing with the bandwidth problems caused by the Blaster variants and their incessant pinging and whatnot is nothing but a bitch. Having just about all of our DSL customers call us up in the last two days just to bitch at me when I tell them that while we are working on their DSL problem that no, I do not know when the issue will be resolved just plain isn't fun.
"Believe me, sir. If I knew when this issue would be resolved, I would tell you so that I could get your mean, bitchy ass off of my phone. Have a nice day."
I haven't heard anything yet about the bandwidth issues. Closest I've had was one guy complaining about the speed of his ADSL, and it was like running at 50Kbps less than 512 so it was like, yeah right whatever.
It's killing most, if not all, of our DSL users. We've heard from SBC that they're having the same issues and rumors from Verizon that they might be experiencing them as well. Luckily I don't have to work today or tomorrow and maybe it will die down before I have to work this weekend. The quick trip to Disneyland did help alleviate my work-related frustration, I'm happy to report. ^^
Brutal week. First everyone gets Blaster. Then the main pipe goes down, some sort of issue at the upstream provider. Then virii bring our mailserver to its knees. Very very hungover and the week's still not done... :/
