A recent email correspondence with a customer of ours...
(names changed to protect the misguided)
Customer: "When I send an email from my Treo, my name is misspelled. It comes up as Jane Dohe (janedoe@somedomain.net) It should be Jane Doe. I looked on the Treo and can't find where to make the change. Was this a typo from your end or from Verizon? Thanks for your help!"
Us: "It is going to be a typo on the setup in the Treo. The only thing we have control over is the email address itself. The display name is going to be specified in the Treo specifically. Let me know if you need anything else."
Customer: "Thanks. I will call Verizon. Have a great evening."

Date: 2006-04-22 05:11 am (UTC)"It's in the basic mail setup on your device"
...is more clear than...
"It is going to be a typo on the setup in the Treo."
...or...
"The display name is going to be specified in the Treo specifically."
...right?
Nice try, though. Way to pat on your own back there. We're all in awe of your experience. Thank you for playing. :P

Date: 2006-04-22 05:26 am (UTC)But maybe saying: going into your mail setup [insert instructions here], looking at this field [here] and changing this [dohe to hoe, oops, doe] might correct the issue.
Prior job expereince has me trained to include every step of the process - not bragging, just saying I'm a trained peon.

Date: 2006-04-22 06:13 am (UTC)...I did that anyways. ^_^
I don't think the OP told us what industry he works in? Making toys? Web hosting? Working for the Mafia?
