Dear Freshman Work-Study "Consultants":

We have a trouble ticket system for a reason. When there is a paper jam in a printer, please submit a ticket -or- fer $DEITY's sake press the damn "?" button on the printer like it's telling you to!!
If you see a flashing red light on a printer, and the LCD information screen says "Push ? for more information," don't just tack up a sign that says PRINTER NOT WORKING and not tell anybody. Grow some proverbial testicular fortitude and delve a little deeper into the computer world and try to fix something! In the time it took you to think out how to spell "PRINTER" for your little sign, I corrected the problem, much to the joy of our Chemistry students printing out their 15 page graphical PDF slideshows.
You took a week long "training" session for a reason. I neatly printed out basic troubleshooting instructions for a reason. I've mentioned and hinted at said FAQs for a reason. I gave you all that disgusted, blatantly disappointed look when I walked in today for a reason. That reason being that I know I'm the "computer guy" for our little Hole In The Wall computer lab, but I'd rather be diagnosing some DNS issues than pulling paper out of a printer's ass.

lovingly serving you,

~Ace

I have worked in tech support many times over the years. not once have I been hired on directly at first. they all promise it will be like a 3-6 month contract, but end up hiring you 1-1/2 years later. How many others have had this problem? or is it just an atlanta thing.
