too long to go through the whole story but here is a recap...

USER: I need you to have my computer set up with everything I need to do my job.
ME: What Specificly do you need access to?
USER: I dont know what it is I need, but I want it, and I want it now!! do it now!
ME:... (starts designing in head a system to send lethal amounts of voltage through phone lines...)

There _is_ a device that was designed to apply high voltage to a phone line.

It's called the Blotto Box. ::chuckles::

You were probably thinking of a more specific way of applying the voltage anyhow...

if you work that system out you will have to share it with everyone. years later that day will still be known as the great tech support massacre

when they aren't looking, switch the voltage on the power supply to 220v option.

I'm sure you can get inspiration here: http://www.fiftythree.org/etherkiller/

Lethal shocks over POTS? Possible on local circuts, but too hard to aim. But USB ports on the other hand... they carry 500mA worth of juice. Should be more than enough to ruin someone's day.

It'll give someone a brief wakeup call, but that's about it.

12V, 500mA is not enough to anything but tickle, for the most part.

Now, 120V 500mA will do some hurtin, and 220/240V is scary.

don't forget, voltage shocks, ampage kills.

12v 5amp should be enough to do some nice damage :)

"OK, done. It'll be active in ten minutes from now. If you experience any further issues, your local manager is the person to see."

The other day, someone emailed the help desk asking what some programs were that he'd found in the apps folder on the server. And can he have them? He might need them! OMG !!!11!one!

My immediate thought was: Why are you looking through the apps folder? I'll bet you're one of those people who install every single thing in add/remove programs. It's people like you who drive our licensing fees up.

I just opened a ticket for his local tech instead.
