Um, no. It is considered poor netiquette to spew a region specific question it a forum that is not geared towards that region.

so yes, it can hurt when people start flaming you.

You don't have to be one of them. We tend to be nicer to our regulars over the random idiots we get.

must be a slow day in San Jose. Granted it was poor form not to slip the query among some shitty college helpdesk stories, but at least it wasn't posted Anonymous

I was referring to [livejournal.com profile] irishmasms being "one of them" as one of the flamers. I do believe you're one of the more regular posters to this community?

I think it's customary to post that you acknowledge a post such as yours is known to be somewhat off-topic for this particular group, but we really do have bigger fish to fry, my thoughts that we've gotten soft aside.

I'm hearing the Dell plant is going to be manufacturing, but it wouldn't surprise me if the open a call centre.

Speaking in general, your best bet it probably here in the Raleigh/Durham (Research Triangle Park) area.

I do know that we have (or will have) some phone support positions available. You'll need at least Net+ to get into tier 3 here.

I would check with Merck, they're moving their datacenter down to one of the Carolina's (sorry Im not familiar with the area), or try looking up CAPSUGEL, a division of Pfizer.

Well, the support scene isn't nearly as active as it used to be down here, since Nortel went kablooie and IBM, Cisco, and damn near everyone else started sending a lot of work overseas.

That said, anything specific that you're looking for? There's still a fair amount of call center work around here, but more and more of it is non-technical (CSR jobs and the like).

If you want, email me what kind of work you're looking for, and I'll keep an eye out. I'm going to be hitting the want ads pretty hard in the next couple of weeks anyways.
