Today has been strange. I have no work orders scheduled for today, but I ended up driving my car down to our south east office ( a one way trip of over 200 miles, I might add), to swap out a failing system. Apparently, they could not wait until TUesday ( Monday is our "christmas" holiday).

::rolls eyes::

FOrtunately, the mileage they are paying will pay for the speeding ticket I got in that po-dunk town. Yep, your moderator got busted for speeding. How bad? I was doing 50 in a 45. grrrrr.

Was it a state trooper that busted you?

The only reason any cop would give you a ticket for 5 over (as compared to a warning, or not even bothering to pull you over) is if you had out-of-state plates, and they knew you weren't going to drive back to go to court.

It's a cash cow for them.

that's not even a ticketable offense here, so strange that they'd do that.

There was a story in the paper here recently about how the city was whining that they didn't get a big enough cut of the ticket proceeds. IMO, they shouldn't get ANY. All it does is give them an incentive to set the laws so that they maximize "profit" from what is then essentially a form of taxation. Oh well, I'll get off my soapbox now.

End of the month - they need to meet their quota. Other times, they'll usually give you 5-7 miles over.

I've got one better. I got pulled passing some assbag NC state trooper on my drive into work one morning. I was doing 71 in a 70 and he even admitted to me that that was what he had me clocked at. The entire stop he tried to agitate and goat me into getting mad so he could hit me with a real charge, but I didn't go for it. I very politely DARED him to give me a ticket so my lawyer and I could laugh at it and when I asked for his badge # he seemed to completely lose interest and responded "I guess I can let you off with a warning THIS time". This incident is on my list of stories to tell in my comic strip, btw...

I say pull a Rambo on the police station. Then again, I believe violence ends everything

I'm usually pretty careful (knock on wood) and observant, so that doesn't happen often to me despite enjoying a sports car...

Last time I was pulled off I laughed my ass off after realizing he'd spent the entire conversation trying to get me to admit I was speeding, since there were too many cars around to get a good read. I hadn't realized it at the time, but spent the entire conversation denying him information anyhow, as it's just general practice.

I routinely sail past both the podunk and staties doing 15-20 over the limit. They never move an inch.

But then, i drive a 15 year old burgandy-and-wood-grain minivan.
