Whenever someone calls in wanting to VPN over satellite we mute the phone and crack up laughing.

That's why we , uh, shot down the proposal for a sat link to our southeast ofice. We ultimately got a faster connection from the cable company down there.

Considering that 1) 400Kbps is a helluva lot faster then the 56K frame relay we were using, and 2) a helluva lot cheaper then some $1250/monthly for a full T-1, I think we made out ok...

That's cool. I know the company would never do satellite themselves. These are people who think they are important because they can work from home over THEIR own ISP connections... and when their ISP connection is at fault... they blame us, of course.

You wanna know sad? We're actually doing this at my office. VPN over 200k satellite link.
