me: this IS tech support how can i help you
him: yes, i had a problem i hope you can help. i deleted my files off my ftp space to make room for some new ones, but i noticed now my website isn't coming up in the browser!
me: sir, if you deleted all your website files, there is nothing to show when people visit your site.
him: oh. well, i guess that sorta makes sense. thanks. i guess it will stay empty till i put stuff up there huh?
me: yes, thats basically how it works sir.

Totally understand where you're coming from with the "I need Tech Support, not a secretary." bit. That question was kind of amusing though... I don't know if I would have been able to keep from laughing, but it sounds like you did a good job. ^_^

I'm not sure what's more irritating.. the "I need tech support, little-miss-secretary-who-couldn't-POSSIBLY-be-tech-support" or the "OHH! REALLLLYYY??!" that comes after you inform them that you are indeed tech support.

They call get a me, "Oh no! A girl can't be in tech support! Give me your supervisor!" I hand them to my supervisor...also a woman. ;)
