Dear Sir or Madam,
To wit, you are playing an independent massively-multiplayer video game produced by an independent company for an independent type of gamer. You seem to be enjoying this game, and you seem to be having a lot of fun doing whatever. Of course there are bugs in this MMORPG, and of course there are issues that will take a while to fix, but that's half the fun for us in the playerbase. When the servers went down for 24 hours due to a memory leak, the devs were kind enough to reimburse us with a fuckton of options, and when a bug was fixed in the cooking craftskill, they implemented an astonishing number of new features soon afterwards.

So, I have to ask, where the hells do you get off thinking that you, YOU, a relatively new player with virtually no coding skills, are qualified to call the chief client dev LAZY? The bug in the system is caused by floating point errors between the development platforms (Windows/Linux/Mac), and the quick workaround is nothing but a cheap fix...and one which would have to be corrected later. The way he's setting it up, as a bitwise instruction rather than a floating-point, is longer, but it is MUCH cleaner, and MUCH faster, and will allow possibly for even MORE changes to the particle system -- which I, as another player, am looking forward to. This will likely open up the way to even more 'nifty' visual effects, as though there weren't enough already. And just because it's not done now, now, now, you're calling him LAZY?

The most coding you have done is Java. You do not know a single fucking thing about this game's source, let alone modular programming -- nor do you know what 'bitwise' means. Your ability to 'fix this within a weekend' is a sham to try and coerce him into dropping more time on a part of the game which really doesn't AFFECT that many people...and it's the most lowdown, dirty trick I can imagine.

The poor soul has been pouring effort into this game by the gallon. He's been coding, debugging, and developing this for at LEAST three years, even going so far as to put off anniversary celebrations with his WIFE (who is, incidentally, another GM) for this project, and you, you little prick, decide that your time is THIS VALUABLE? If you want a development team that's willing to bend over backwards just because you're remotely tired of a single facet being imperfect, go bug EA for one of your own; they have plenty of lost souls just aching for a new master. And until you have something useful to add, possibly a feature request that the GMs can actually DO something about? Shut your fucking cakehole.

No love,
Me.

::rolls eyes::

that's like a player I encountered in WoW the other night. He got rather crankly when we all dies due to getting mobbed by a bunch of spiders, and threatened to leave the group if we did it again. He stated "This game is my life" which indicates to me that he need to get a life, because this is my relaxation tool...

Ya know, I enjoy a good game like everyone else, but that's it. It's just a game.

"Why sir, you wound me! It's not as if we could accidentally cast Summon Spiders... oops."

"Sir, I am most terribly sorry. We really didn't mean to cast Summon Spiders... oh dear."

"Please forgive us for casting Summon Spiders..."

"...another fourteen times."

I thought she was on about WoW, ah well. This stuff happens. Especially on the EU servers, wednesday mornings are a no-go for playing 75% of the time. Upside is by the time those of us with this item 'Life' usually come in early evening when its all sorted. :D

jecook, did he know anything about Human Interaction, and was he just hanging about watching you die?

What had happened was that I had grouped up with another random player in order to help each other out with some quests in Silverpine. We did not know just where to find the spiders, and the hint site I usually use was less then forthcoming (It listed Cosmos Cordinates, but neither of us use that UI helper), so we took to asking random people were the spiders were at. We grouped with this person who led us there.

Seeing as there was no real leadership in the party, I was doing my rouge thing (Stealth, sneak up on one, and kill it, and repeat), the seond party member was doing his mage thing, and the third guy was also doing his mage thing.

Well, we got mobbed by a large group of spiders (over 5), I died, and on my way back they died. I got back and respawned in order to regain my health, and to keep the area where they had been killed clear, and that's when he started in on this.

Another phrase he used was "I've been doing this for years", which immediately made me call bullshit mentally. WoW has only been out for a year, if that.

in any case, I managed to get all our quests done and get back out alive. ::rolls eyes::

My complaint was more the attitude I sensed from him then anything.

lol.

the spiders in question had a pretty fast respawn rate, too. It was an interesting time getting out of there.
