Repeat after me...

I hate active directory, I hate active directory, I hate active directory......

Today and yesterday was a myriad of stupid stuff on my part. YES! I admit when I am totally screwing up.

First... wrote down the old computer name wrong so when I went to join the replacement computer to the AD, it didn't exist. DUH!

Second...I screwed up the IP address so bad, it didn't help

THEN, I couldn't rememeber which USER NAME and PASSWORD I have to use for each stage. You heard me right... I got given more than ONE user name and Password for all this. Is it a, b, c, or d. 90% of the time its A, but in this case it was B for part 1, and C for part 2... D is only if I am removing something from the AD...

Did I say I HATE active directory?

I dunno about policy over there, but we use Administrator over here for just about everything.... I know, it's so totoally wrong, but for setting up new machines, it's right.

Dunno what to tell you. ADS has always been the Balm That Soothes for me. Sure, it's not too hard to screw up, but then, so is any powerfull computing system.

sounds to me like you should be hating your admin and/or your policies.
AD itself isn't at fault here. ^_^

i'd have to agree with the above comments. while i only have limited access to AD, it hasn't been too bad. my supervisor is keeper of AD and i don't think he has nearly that many user names/passwords for AD itself. perhaps other servers, but not AD. =p definitely sounds like your job over-complicated the whole AD thing

How about the 6 or so restarts it took takes if one forgets to take the Norton Ghost image source offa ADS before pulling the image? Yeah... 75 machines. Learned my lesson
