Note to knology technical support tiers 1, 2, and sysadmins
you people are a bunch of stupid asshats. NEVER DOUBT THE VALIS. THE VALIS OWNS YOU. the valis TOLD you it was YOUR STUPID ASS MISTAKE AND PROBLEM. Valis was right, but valis had to go over your damned heads to get anything actually done about it.
telling the valis to BOOT UP IN SAFE MODE, JEEESSUUUUZZZZZZ, f'you idiots...
i finally had to go an end run around the whole of knology technical support. called them up, "suggested" (i never said i was actually working there... just that i was "with" API, which i am cause i'm still their customer) that i was still employed by www.apid.com (ISP, they offer cable access by way of knology lines, haven't worked there for over a year), got the direct number for the knology NOC (Network Operations Center), got the direct number for a guy over the NOC, talked to him on the phone, emailed him the info including my modem MAC address, and whaddyaknow get this email this morning:
Valis,
The below modem is installed as a Knology customer. This need to be
changed to API Digital and it will fix the problem.
I will forward to someone in Huntsville to resolve.
Thanks
Valis

... boot up in safe mode... !@#$@#!$%@#$%@#$, next...
(btw, this is regarding a block on my port 25 that's been there for two weeks, 2 calls to api, 3 very long calls with knology, and a promise for a phone call from knology sysadmins who eventually said "it's api's problem")
