After more than a week off work coughing my lungs out, I return to work doped to the gills with pills and potions. One of the additions to my desk in this time has been a piece of paper, which I pick up and peer at.

"All calls to and from other helpdesks are to be logged on this bit of paper from now on."

Wow. Let me see. I really want to waste my time double-handling information which is already available in the logs, should the admin drone who handed these bits of paper out care to get off his arse and collate them. Should I bow to this indignity, or simply scrunch up the paper and toss it in the bin?

*scrunch* *bin*

Admin drone wanders by later that day.

AD: "Do you have that bit of paper?"

Me: "No, I binned it because I'm not into double-handling, nor decreasing my efficiency and the efficiency of the twenty-plus other techs on the desk because you can't do your job properly."

AD: "Well, here's another copy." *wanders off*

*scrunch* *bin*

Now taking bets on how many times this scenario will be repeated before the drone throws a tantrum.

Bah, tantrums.. Just mention the money and time (thus money) that logging on paper will cost the company, not to mention the step backwards in technology. Stupid.

all I can think of reading this is "did you get that memo regarding the TPS reports?"

The note said "THIS" slip of paper, right? So fill it in completely with scrawl over overwritten scrawl, until the page looks like 10 years worth of NY Subway graffiti.
