Dear IT Colleague:

The word "skills" is never spelled with a "z". Doing so makes you look like a fucktard. Thank you.

With love and larts,
Q

I wonder if skills might one day fork from skillz, sk1llz and mad sk1llz. I mean, already now it would seem that mad skillz has a bit of a different use than skilled.

w00t! eleet mad skillz, d00d! <-- Future of the IT language, man. At least if we kids get our way.

Oh, probably not any proper }-{16}-{ |337, but there might be a word or two popping up and being accepted over time. We already say lol, wft and omg aloud, so why not? Teh might stick, as well as haxor, skillz and a few other ... gems.

Things like LOL, wtf, omg, are mostly from the IM community. That I can mostly stand. (except the subtituting 'u' for 'you' take the time to write it out, morons, especially in a frigging LJ post!)

I use 'teh' a lot, especially when I'm being silly, along with pr0n, and intentional mispelings. That came from USEnet. ::raises "old fart" flag::

but to make an impression to colleagues, you have to use proper grammer and spelling, because it make you look like a person of reasonable and comperable intellegence. At least that's my opinion.

For the record, I said lol out loud for the first time yesterday, as I was going into work, and to no one in particular (I tend to talk to myself during the commute, when I'm not singing along with the radio or breathing flames at the idiots whom I'm sharing the road with)

Yeah, I don't like simplifying stuff much either, but some of the nerdy words seem to have stuck. Also, I'll guess the coming generations will be a bit more lenient when it comes to stuff like that. Jokingly at first, of course.

Some of the stuff seems to have gone into a sort of "I know it's stupid, I'm making a joke!" mode, with !!!1!!!1eleventyone and other stuff to tell people that it's not serious. Myself, I tend to prefer lalz over lol.

Must agree. It's spelled 'skills' not 'zkills'.

WTF is wrong with people?
