What to do, what to do...
Aug. 4th, 2005 12:01 pmI have a question, and who better to ask than my fellow techsupport hell community...
If you had the opportunity to have a job at Sony, only it required you to take a $1 pay cut and lose all of your discounted services from your cable company...
Would you take that opportunity for a shot at some bigger and better things with the Sony company?
I figured I would ask, because this could be a big change...with more chances to grow, plus I wouldn't have to talk on these evil phones like I currently do!

Date: 2005-08-04 07:06 pm (UTC)depends from what amount to start, if it was $10 -> $9 then that's a big drop, if it's $35->$34 then that's not too bad.
Also depends on what the job at sony is doing.
Plus think of the discounted sony hardware.

I second both of these.
You'd be off the phones, which I would (and in fact recently did) take a minor pay cut for.
More growth opportunity, off the phones... for a minor pay cut I'd do it, assuming the pay cut wouldn't destroy my finances.

Date: 2005-08-04 07:12 pm (UTC)If it means getting off the phones, even half the time, I'd do it in a heartbeat, if only thinking about the possible discounts you may get across the board working at Sony. Think about the toys, man, the toys!

Date: 2005-08-04 07:12 pm (UTC)Then again, I might be at the top of the scale, and keep the same pay.
It's setting up computers, and some small networks. Better than being on the phones all day...
I'm more of a hands on guy...so this job would be up my alley.

Date: 2005-08-04 07:44 pm (UTC)I gotta get out of working for an insurance company. There's no fun discounts. (no, not even insurance)

Date: 2005-08-04 08:10 pm (UTC)Other than that. You have room for movement, education paid for, bad ass benefits, cool company party and if you are lucky they let you go and work your ass off at E3 in LA and go to the after parties. The environment is laid back but you do work hard. SCEA employees all got PS2's when they came out though they didn't get the PSP when it came out.
I'd also see if they will up your pay any. Work the system man! And if you are getting the job in Foster city I'll have to hate you!! I was let go becuase of budget issues and the techs didn't make tickets so they couldn't prove that I did work. Ah well.
