Jul. 29th, 2005 02:49 amSo I do DSL tech suppourt, and I'm doing a No Route issue. Line test indicates there's no MAC address bound in the router on a connection that authenticates using MAC filtering, and so I'm about to have the poor guy run ipconfig /renew when I find the following in the ticket history:
Reported Problem :
cx has a route issue
Solution :
disconnected the modem completly and restarted the pc, still the same,
took cx to the command prompt and got the following:
-ip address 169.254.236.172.
-local area connection shows limited or no connectivity.
-netsh ip int reset resetlog.txt
-same ip address.
-cx has SP2.
adviced cx to download the pach KB884020 from www.microsoft.com to get
the ip address in to the pc.
Test Solution :
cx will download the patch and if necesary will call back
There's crossing Suppourt Boundaries, and then there's setting them on fire and pissing on the ashes. I had to put the customer on hold while I died laughing, and then ran the appropriate troubleshooting... which took about three minutes.
Poor bastard.
