I think I've got the phone system at work figured out finally. I poked around in there, and found the two places where one can screw with the phone display, and the directory system for the voice mail/Auto-Attendant. Alas, I can't change my display to say "Satan", because that would be a CLM. However, "BOFH" might be more appropriate considering what I do and the amount of crap I've maanged to get away with...

However , I might do that for the phone that we put in the network closet. hmmm..... ::thinks evil thoughts...

question for you: I used to work in a helpdesk farm that was managed with Avaya with nortel phones. If I took 2 or more calls at a time, Avaya would barf and put me in a null state until I got back into a single state. Is that still a problem in the software? (not that it matters, my current job mercifully has no way of tracking any kind of state..)

I read of a guy who knew the guy at the phone company who put in everyone's names for caller ID, so he showed up on everyone's phone, not just the Avaya switch, as GOD IN HEAVEN. Maybe that would be less of a CLM?

Around here, working tech support at all is a CLM. Actually, it's more of a CSM (career suicide move).
