You know, I should have asked at the beginning...

So, a customer calls up from one of my retread plants, and he says that he's having trouble connecting his wireless handheld to the network. For some reason, he just can't get a connection.

So, being the good tech I am, I start troubleshooting. I ask all kinds of probing questions, like "Has it ever worked before?" No. "Are you getting a wireless signal?" No. "Did you enter the right Encryption key for access?" Yeah, we think so.

So, after about 20 minutes, including rebooting the handheld in the warm and cold boot, and reloading all the wireless software, I finally ask:

"And what does the access point look like? Is it blinking or a steady light?"

Silence there, and nothing more...

...for about 30 seconds, and the retreader says "I don't think we got one 'a those."

So, I ask if they have anything there that puts out a wireless network signal, and the guy says "Ugh, no. We thought we could pick up something from a satellite or radio station."

I shit you not, I couldn't make this stuff up. *headdesk*
