delighted to find this community. I share with you one of my more interesting moments.

Background: I support a database application to customers, so unlike supporting home ISP users for example, it's expected that the people I deal with have some working knowledge of computer basics. An expectation that is overturned in some surprising ways.

I got an email from a user in Japan reporting a problem with the software. There was a bit of a language barrier, so I asked him to send me a screen capture of the error.

The attachment I got was indeed a screen capture. Someone had taken a photograph of the monitor screen and either scanned it, or transfered from a digital camera.

The joke was on me, though, the text of the error message was in Japanese.
