During my current job installing new computers for an insurance company, I've decided that the ease of setting a computer up on a desk is inversely proportional to the price of the desk.

ie, superexpensive big hardwood monstrosity = nearly imposible to run cables to/through

Yes, with a hole saw kit and plenty of grommets.

Last time I did one, I didnt even bother to clena up the sawdust, either. ::snicker::

It's true about the huge hardwood desks, though. I have a rather nice chipboard imitation of such a desk, and even planning the cabling out and tucking most of it out of sight still leaves me with a tangle of plastic covering part of the surface.

I think that applies to life in general. The more showy, ostentatious, and status-oriented something is, the less practical or useful it is. Hummer H2's get 6 MPG highway. Male peacock tail feathers make them easier for predators to catch.
