literally.

the freshly released Apple hardware[0] will only run tiger. well that's just great. we had no plans on upgrading to 10.4 until later this year once some of the more pressing bugs had been worked out and our critical we need these applications were tested and known to work.
Yay, frickin' yay.

i'm getting annoyed with flash on ppc linux too. it regularly hangs my firefox and that's just not cricket.

[0] iMacs, G5 desktops and eMacs. unupdated hardware is still fine.

Which PPC distro are you using?

Ah, yes, seems I'm not the only one that has problems with kernels newer than 2.6.8.1. Even if I'm using it on x86. And only some of the time.

Dunno what to say about Flash. I really don't use the version out of the multiverse repositiories, prefering one downloaded from Macromedia myself (much as I do Firefox). I know, they really frown upon installing this stuff yourself, but I like having Firefox in /home instead of /usr/bin. At least this way, everything's in two places instead of three.

Heh, and people say that Microsoft support policies are bad (Windows 2000 support ending this year! APOCALYPSE!!!).

meh. I haven't updated since SP4 came out. That and I have some secured Win98 boxes that run fine. I'll survive.

That's almost always been the case with Apple. New hardware needs new OS to run.

System 7.5 was the last time I recall that happening.

Actually it's happened a few times, when they've update hardware to match software capabilities, as they did this time (Well, with the eMacs and iMacs, not the PowerMacs).

Right, because your wife can't do it herself...
