Just do the @$%$@ troubleshooting

Many of the products I support have a high electricity drain after being idle for a period when starting up. This often confuses surge supressors and they clamp down on the current going to the device. I know poor design of a device, but I don't design or make them, I just support them. When I ask you to plug your device directly into a power outlet I don't care what else is working fine plugged into your surge supressor, your device isn't and I'm the freaking expert. If you don't want to follow my advice get off my line. [/rant]

Me: (Inside voice): Yes, you babbling twit! When every other tech and end user on the freaking planet only says "Right-Click" when they want you to... you know... Right-Click, you don't need to be Sherlock mother-fucking Holmes to deduce that the default of "click" means Left-Click! Even Inspector frigging Lestrade could have figured that one out!"

I went postal once when I cracked when some one did that to me on a really bad day. I swear at least 1/3 of the floor heard me practically scream "DID I SAY CLICK APPLY? NO I SAID CLICK OK!".

That caller was so meek after that, followed directions to a T, and then my supervisor sent me for an extra smoke break.

I know how that is..I have the problem of them thinking that there is no real sequence to how things are power cycled/unplugged and they always wanna say "Well, I did that already." Yes you might have but did you do it THIS way..The way that is WILL correct the problem WHEN done correctly...
