Oh... I'm new.
Apr. 28th, 2005 12:55 pmHi all. I'm new and stuff.
I work HSI Tech support. I would love comming to work everyday if I didn't have to deal with stupid people.
I have a pretty classic example of what makes me angry.
Customer: "I can't get online."
Me: "What are the lights on your modem doing?"
Customer: "Nothing. They're all off."
Now, at this point, it's important to clarify exactly what they mean. 'All off' to one customer could just mean the sync lights are off, which, amazingly, is not 'all off'.
Me: "You mean every single light? Including the power?"
Customer: "Yeah, none of the lights are on at all."
Customer blubbers on about how she thinks her service has been disconnected because her modem is off.
Me: "Can you make sure the power is plugged in?"
Customer: "It is. It has to be."
Me: "No, it's not. At least the power light would be on."
Long story short. Customer plugs in power. Modem syncs. Customer can connect.
I mean, if you pushed the power button on your TV and it didn't turn on, would you automatically assume your cable had been disconnected? If you turned on your curling iron and the light didn't come on, wouldn't you check the power?
Anyway, I like ranting.
