Scenario: Twenty-five thousand users in five hundred buildings, ranging from continental coast to coast. We're a big IT shop.

So why do we keep getting mail like this?:
The data ports in the conference room don't work and I have to give a presentation tomorrow!"

...yeah, dude. Because we know exactly where your office has decided to slap a temporary conference room this month, what data ports you are referring to, and our outsourced network/electrical contractor is going to prioritize your presentation over, say, everything else they have to do this week.

That is, assuming we care enough to track you down through personnel records and find out where the flying moose ears you're actually emailing from.

On the other hand, right about now you'll be getting our automated reply:

"Thank you for your email. Response time on this mailbox is three to five working days."
