Ah, the joys of someone in corporate userland trying desperately to connect a personal USB drive to their government-rated PC. Especially a someone who won't take "no" for an answer. Still, there are ways to bring them around to the truth.

[First call]
"The PC can't see the drive!"
"Have you activated the USB ports in the BIOS?"

[Second call]
"The PC can't see the drive!"
"Have you requested and received access permission via the security system so that your account is allowed to use USB ports?"

[Third call]
"The PC can see something's there, but it's not coming up properly!"
"Was there a software driver for that device?"

[Fourth call]
"The software won't install!"
""Have you requested and received access permission via the security system so that your account is allowed to install unapproved software?"

[Fifth call]
"I've installed the software, but the computer still won't bring up the drive!"
"Is the drive on our known compatible hardware list?"

[Sixth call]
"Hey! Your list has no USB drives on it at all!"
"Yup. Enjoy your paperweight."

BWA-HA-HA-HA!
