I need to get into into one of my email accounts that someone broke into and changed the password on.
I was wondering if there was any way to do this and anyone willing to help me.
Thank you.

Yeah. Passwords can be changed remotely. I'll mention how because I misread your message initially and typed all this out...

first if you have access to the physical email server box itself (or visit your ISP and have proper identification and have them do it), you should be able to do this quite easily from it's console.

Also, if the email server is a standard POP server (they all used to be back in the good old days... but then things like HOTMAIL-MSN and ISP-specific protocols crept up, and so standarization isn't as nice as it used to be), then you *might* be able to do it by issuing it a change password command. Not many email clients have that as an option though, so you may have to do it via a telnet session. You login with the text window, change your password and logout. Detailed instructions that are probably clearer can be found here (http://www.uniforce.net/chpasswd1.html).

Those are the methods to change the password. If it's already changed... then your best bet is to confront a real life flesh and blood person (or at least the telephone voice of...) who's in charge of the email server and get them to change the password to something that you desire.

most likely you should contact the admins of the server/customer service of the server and make them reset the password. in these cases they have info available for you to verify proving your existance. what service did this happen on?

possibly. but MOST of the time, no. You can change the password to something else... but not read what it is right now.
