WTF is up with people? My Team Lead just got turned down from a fairly nice promotion. He is bummed out and that is COMPLETELY understandable. But my other two coworkers don't understand why he is upset, more or less, why he is in a bummed mood. One of them is young racer type who only cares about his car, and the other is an unhappily-married middle aged gamer who doesn't take much of anything seriously or to heart. I have been working with my Team Lead for a year now. We have hung out outside of work and he is a really sweet, really awesome guy. We are both techies, ya know? At the end of our long shift we both go home and work on our home systems. He recently got turned down for a Sys Admin position and now he got turned down again. I COMPLETELY understand how he is acting and I am okay with it. But for my other two coworkers to be bitching and complaining and saying that "it isn't right", that's just totally not cool. I dunno. Am I alone in thinking this way? If he just wants to be mad, let him be mad. He has EVERY right to.

Amen! He does have every right to be upset. Especially if, as it sounds, he's done a wonderful job.

I hate it when people tell me I shouldn't be upset about things. *rolleyes*

I can understand him being upset, but I don't think it is very professional for him to let his employees see it and let it effect the way he deals with them.

Understanding...

I can understand being bumed about getting turned down for something he most obvously deserved. But at the same time I don't see why the rest of his coworkers have to suffer. Be a man hide your feelings down deep in the pit of your guts like a real man. Or just be a professional and rise above the company's obvious bs. Be a bigger man than The Man. Look to the future. Life isn't all about work. Well...for some of us it isn't any way. But thats my 2 bits. imo.
