A co-worker had a system in that the user stated was crashing a lot. Co-worker booted it up, started a diagnostic, system crashed. So he opened the case to look inside. Apparently one of the blades on the CPU fan was bent so it was making more noise than usual. So the user stuck a twist tie into it to keep it from moving and making noise.

Hmmm, I wonder why the system kept crashing?

I don't understand some people. Didn't they realize that the system started crashing AFTER they messed with the inside of the case?

Not with those kind of people. In fact, despite the numerous amount of spam, spyware, malware, viruses and worms, they'll blame you for slowing down their system after disinfecting the machine (which consequently eradicated a lot of infected files in the process.)

What makes me curious is that if you were to propose removing the belt that goes to the water pump in their car because it was noisy, they would be disgusted. But when it comes to PCs, there is no limits to what they will "fix"

Exactly like you say. If you proposed removing something critical in their car they would cringe. In a PC though? What harm could it do. I just don't get these people.

I love the car analagies :) and why is it that customers are so skeptical to believe tech support, but if they take their car in to get fixed they will buy anything that is told to them even if it makes 0 sense.

As noted above, cars run on mechanical principles. People know they are ignorant of mechanical concepts, so anything goes. Computers run on magic. People know magic, ergo, they don't believe us.

Just tell 'em the Flux Capacitor is dead. :-)

Strangely enough, though, Mr Fusion does come with a program that overclocks even a PCI Nvidia Geforce MX w/64MB of RAM to faster than a PCIexpress card with 512 MB of RAM.
