Not a rant, but I was amused
Aug. 19th, 2004 05:28 pmWe use Magic for our help desk software. It's web-based, prone to stealing focus, and prone to breaking on the emailing out. It's broken with paging our techs, too, so we have to do that by hand. We pretty much universally hate it and we'll be booting it once our web group is able to get their solution finished for us. Since we paid a lot for it, though, we're stuck with it until that time.
All of our techs have access to their own calls, and can open and close them.
So the other day, one of our techs calls me. He's at a remote site and trying to log into Magic.
Tech: Hey! Can you tell me what the address to Magic is?
Me: Oh, tsk, you don't know this by now? It's //magic/magictsd
Tech: Oh! TSD! I was typing STD!
Me: .... Well, that fits it pretty well too....
