Jul. 27th, 2004 10:55 amJust for giggles, one day I decided to keep track of the number of times I had to log into things at work. Besides five applications that time out after 15-20 minutes, there's also two network logins (one for each PC on my desk), the call tracking software, the intranet, the timekeeper program.
I start my day at 9:30.
By noon I stopped counting, I had reached 16.
and they want us to use our time more efficiently.

Date: 2004-07-27 10:51 am (UTC)Network logon to get on to my PC.
Network logon for the Mac on my desk
Logon to our helldesk system (which times out after 10 minutes unless I remember to auto-refresh)
Logon to our email admin database
Internet (which logs off if no activity for 20 minutes)
Comms system logon
Time recording system
Logon to our internal-facing support/discussion forums
Our education side webmail system (both to my mailbox and to the admin console)
Logon to a box running MRTG
Logon to a box running our network monitoring test software
Logon to our live stats system
Seperate logons to each one of 12 web proxy server admin interfaces on a random (and infrequent) basis
Logon to our desktop remote control product
Logon to the LDAP server admin command line interface
Aargh, I think my head is going to explode. Most of those I use on a daily basis at random times of the day. There are a few more lurking around somewhere, but I think you probably just beat me with your 16 by noon!
