Date: 2004-07-02 05:30 pm (UTC)Anyway, yeah... a few weeks ago, I got sick of spyware being dumped on the computer of a family member again and again and again, no matter how many times I cleaned it. My solution was I installed firefox, changed the default theme to make it look a lot more like Internet Explorer and changed all the links to start the program. Nobody's complained. In fact, I think the email client is being credited for "making the Internet work better". I'm not even going to try explaining the truth... For good measure, I also locked down all of IE's settings and set it's page to a website of the latest IE vulnerability they were talking about. Just in case they do happen to launch it.
Of course... Next time I'm back there, I'm switching it to the DOJ article. :D
