Hello American Dumbasses...

Customer - "Wow, Okay I have Add New Harderware popping up. There's lots of pop-ups. Wow this thing is clicking fast..."
Me - "Okay what do you have on your screen..."
Customer interupted
Customer - "What's going on?!?"
Me - "What do you have on your screen?"
Customer - "Nothing"
Me - "Are you back to your desktop?"
Customer - "Yes. All my icons are up"
Me - "Alright, we need to take a look into your device manager because it's possible that your modem is not installed."
Me - "Okay, right click on my computer and select properties"
Customer - "Right click or left?"
Customer asked this every time I told him to click on something afterwards

There was conflicts with his cable modem in the device manager of course
We removed the device of course and started up the AHW.

Customer - "Wow this is clicking so fast"
Me - "What do you have on your screen now?"
Customer - "nothing"
Me - "Okay, so we need to look into your device manager to see if it installed correctly"

Thank GOD that they were installed correctly.
I REALLY hate it when people are click happy. This call was 35 minutes too long.

*click-click-click* is the scourge of the universe and the special ability of the clueless computer user.

Yeah, that's why you never tell anyone to right click. It may save you 10-15 seconds the first time, but after that, it wastes 2-3 seconds each time you tell them to click on something. Just pretend they don't have a right mouse button at all, since they almost certainly never use it themselves. The control pannel is your friend, and single clicking and going to file and then properties is the way to go.

I used to try that. Then you have to deal with what happens when they somehow interpret 'click' as 'double-click six times'.

Maaan, as soon as I hear that phrase "Right-click or left?", I know I'm in for a long day.

I once had a customer who ran around the menus like a rabid squirrel, fiercely clicking anything in sight. It didn't help that it was a Mac with a version of the OS I didn't have good docs for. Eventually I just gave up and waited till her clicking took her back full-circle to where I left her.
