Here's the deal -

Customer calls in, bitches and complains up the ass about him not receiving his e-mail since about midnight. He says that by this time he should have at least 100 pieces of e-mail, mostly spam. I send him a test e-mail from our mail servers, I show it gets received, and seconds later it's gone. I ask him if he has his e-mail client setup to constantly check the e-mail server. He says he doesn't. I ask him if his e-mail client is setup to leave a copy of messages on the server, he says it doesn't. I check our mail logs and sure as shit, at least 5 times a minute EVERY minute since midnight. I check the IP Address of the host that checked the inbox and I ask him what his IP Address is. They match. I inform the customer of this and he swears he hasn't received a single message since about 7pm yesterday evening. I advised him to check any other computers that may have an e-mail client configured to verify that he hasn't downloaded the messages there. The client, VERY reluctantly (and after several harsh words) complied.

The dumbass has checked his e-mail a thousand times in the past 7 hours and its my fault. Then when I PROVE that he's at fault, he gets pissy. Oh well, have fun finding your spam sir, cuz it ain't on the server. Kthxbye.

That, my friend, is why I love the ipop3d logs. I've had the exact same scenario many times. They never believe that they're doing it to themselves until you can prove with log information that they're popping the account already.

hahaha

Most Lusers that I come across have somehow clicked on the options and have hid all messages. But yeah, after you show them there mistake and their own stupidity they don't change or faulter from continuing to blame me. I just take comfort in knowing that they will still be paying me $90 an hour for showing them their mistake. And the more they bitch, moan and groan. The more I will stick to my guns and make them pay every last cent.
