Dude calls up and his computer is listed as being sold through an education channel. Mandatory transfer to education support.Get's pissed off and goes on and on about having the Applecare Protection plan, I explain that he gets the same tech support...just from a different tech at a different desk.

Dude then tells me we need to stop selling computers with an education discount because every time he calls, they want to transfer him.

Dude bought his computer used from someone who bought it with an edu discount

For the love of George, WHY do people get so pissed when I tell them that they have a *special numbder that they can call for tech support that has a shorter wait time than this one and if I transfer you right now, chances are about 98% they'll pick up right away* so quit bitching, it's your time you're wasting not mine. I'm paid to do this, you have a paper due in 45 minutes.

And I must get 3 or 4 calls a day...

Me"...was this computer purchased with an education discount?"

them" yes, yes it was"

me(woohoo!) "Ok, I'm required to transfer you to our education support department..."

Them "transfer? oh wait, THIS computer wasn't purchased with a discount. we paid full price for this one"

...and of course, in this case unless the record shows that it was...and half the time it doesn't...we have to keep the call.

though, things would be a lot easier if the phone menu said "if this computer was purchased with an education discount, press 9" or something instead of "if this computer is owned by a school..."

*grumble* stoopid people...
