it could always be worse

A late Christmas present has put me in possession of a Barbie Video Girl doll. Yeah, the video isn't amazing and the microphone is kinda wonky, but it's a pretty neat device for what it is.
Anyway, the directions mention software that you can download for free for editing your video. It's annoying because the software will only install on Windows XP, service pack 3 or higher (take that, Apple!). Nonetheless, I thought I'd download the stuff, try it out, do a review of the software, edit it in the software, and post it to the Yube.
Look, it was either that or David Lynch-style films with Barbie transitions.
I had a HELL of a time getting everything installed. That doll requires more drivers than an HP printer!
The software will automatically download any clips (all in avi) in the doll's flash memory and automatically delete those files off the device. These are saved to a folder in "My Documents", but they are given a numeric name and I haven't figured out the algorithm yet (give me time). I've found I can save files to the doll directly and then have the software pull from there, so I have a funky work-around for now.
All music and sound effects are mp3 or wav format. The pre-loaded transitions are tiff-based.
ANYWAY, my drag-and-drop won't work and I went through the log file and saw there was an error on the dragdrop.dll and noticed there was a 1-800 number for technical support. And that got me wondering...
How the heck do you wind up doing technical support for a Barbie doll?
