Please provide full listing of all the addresses in <internalmanagement system> inside the firewall. If the list is too large, please let e know the actual total.

We have a rather large internal network. One small-ish building has about 4 Class-C subnets, not counting wireless. One of the mid sized ones has 8, plus wireless subnets. Adding together the local campuses, I can't even guess how many full C subnets we have. Then we have remote locations... then other major city locations... then international locations... ALL "inside the firewall".

I think I might just track this ticket and see how we respond. I half hope that some "helpful" infrastructure guy hits a few buttons and runs a full report for him. *evil grins*

User got some shit on her laptop, so we decided to reimage it. My tech goes and backs up the usual and does the format/reimage. He gives the laptop back to her and immediate she freaks out because she lost all of her contacts - years worth of contacts from all other institutions around the state. I tell her that's pretty odd, since all contacts are saved on the Exchange server.

You can see where this is going, amirite??

She didn't have contacts saved. She had email addresses saved in her Outlook auto-complete.

Epilogue: Why yes, we do back up the .nk2 file that stores this info. And yes, I restored it, and we all lived happily ever after until the next big fuck up. (No, I didn't bother trying to teach her the difference between Outlook Contacts and email address auto-complete. It would have been wasted effort.)
