I didn't really know a proper place to ask this except amoung people with the same experience of shady tech companies that have hired them in the past.

Is it polite to ask a company that is hiring for 'proof of business' before submitting your own personal information to them?

If they respond to that request with a "How dare you?!" response, should you then be wary?

Does 'proof of business' really matter?

Customer (about 19) has a custom build his uncle (why is it always an uncle?) built for him "a few years ago." Vid card isn't getting power. Easy fix. There's more than average dust. It's missing slot covers. Drops a couple of inquisitive "What's that?" type questions I answered with "This is your hard drive," etc. Not bad, very basic and nicely stated questions.

And then:

"How do I go about building a server to host WoW games? And I want to make video games How do I do that?"

Come on kid, one step at a time, please.
