Reading this ticket, I'm thinking one of two things: "well, at least he didn't blindly respond" and "so close, yet so far".
Dear Administrator, I got a funny e-mail (which I am sending you) saying to give my email id, password, name and department. I have to give this information because of "some vital maintainance on our {FOO.EDU} website".

This email is send by:

"Techonlogy Services Help Desk" <lbaxley@mail.very-much-not-foo.edu>

Please let me know if this is a hoax or a true one.

Greatest.. moment... ever

So I'm at work for my $InstitutionofHigherLearning, right?

And so I get this call:

Me: "Thank you for calling $SupportCenter, this is [livejournal.com profile] demented_pants. May I have your username?"
Caller: "This is $Guy'sname from $mobileprovider. I have a student on the line and I'm trying to help him set up his $mobiledevice with his university email."
Me: "Okay, great, let's get him on the line and we'll set things up."

So the guy gets the university user on the line and we get him set up with what he needs to know that's specific to the university system, and then I hand him off to the other support guy and hang up.

Then, because that is the most awesome thing ever, I tell my coworker who's in what just happened.

Coworker: "Yo dawg, we herd you like tech support..."

I just about died. :D
