ravenofdreams.livejournal.comThing One: to my Client
DO NOT get your technical advice from some yahoo on a forum. I do not care that he plays with Final Cut all the time - you also play with Final Cut all the time, and you're a moron. So.
When the Raven says 'installing a fifth hard drive and this RAID card is going to take time, as I'm going to have to reconfigure your RAID-5 from scratch AND, because the RAID card that the other forum yahoo (this one employed by the company making the RAID cards, incidentally) recommended does not use software that I can access without a functioning system, the correct answer is, from now on, "Yes ma'am." Not arguing. This is what you pay me to do, by the $DEITY. If I want my roof fixed, I'll call you, and then shut up while you do your work. If you want your computer fixed, you play my game.
Thing Two: to the RAID card provider
SCREW YOU. Stop flipping giving people you don't know advice and then expecting other people to do the work. My client is wonderful guy, but he wouldn't know which end of the mouse to hold without me telling him, some days. Expecting him to know anything technical is bad; this is readily apparent within ten seconds of talking to him. You didn't ask relevant things like 'do you currently have a functioning OS?' Or 'how about a functioning RAID card?' Or 'were all the hard drives in your old setup in one RAID array?' so now you can just bite me.
....also, the beret you're wearing in your picture on the forums? Stupid.
