and then you reach the end of the article...

Microsoft will deliver Office Web applications to consumers through Office Live, a consumer service with both ad-funded and subscription offers, Capossela said.

Yet, he added, “for business customers, we will offer Office Web applications as a hosted subscription service and also through existing volume licensing agreements.”

and there's the familiar MS rub. will be interested from an "end-user support" standpoint to see how this develops...

  • I told you it's E-ther-net not ETHHH-er-net. Stop saying ETHHHernet. It hurts my brain.

  • Stop reading every damned word of every damned window. I know what it says, it says the same thing on MY computer. I've told you that. Repeatedly.

  • For the love of cheesecake, LISTEN to what I'm telling you to do. Stop clicking everything in sight. Just wait a second and do exactly what I tell you–not a click more. I usually have a plan. If I don't have a plan, I'm hunting for a piece of info that will help me make a plan. Honest. Your randomly clicking and then not remembering what you clicked and how you got there? NotHelping™.

  • You've had this computer since 2001. By now, you should be able to find "the little blue apple", know how to pull down a menu and whether or not you should click or double click. Just learning those little things will result in me keeping more hair attached to my head.

  • How many times have I told you to never, ever, EVER click on a link in email? Don't do it. Ever. I know it says it's from [your bank]. But you know what? There are bad guys out there trying to part a fool you and your money. I've told you for 8 years what to do–open a browser window and go to [bank website] and find it yourself. EOD.

He's my dad, and I love him. If he weren't and he were a client? I'd have fired him eons ago.

The following is a cut and paste of what I submitted to Slashdot just now, my first submission ever:

---

I work as a security analyst at an internet security company. While troubleshooting an issue, we learned why our customer couldn't keep his site-to-site VPN going from any location that uses Sprint as it's ISP: Sprint has decided not to route traffic to Cogent due to litigation.

This has a chilling effect; already, this person I worked with cannot communicate between a few sites of his, and since Sprint is stopping the connections cold (my traceroutes showed as complete, and not as timing out), it means that there is no backup plan; anyone going to Cogent from a Sprint ISP is crap out of luck. What this means to me is that third parties control our information, and they'll do with it what they damn well please.

---

I'm still aghast at this. Sprint broke the internet intentionally.

EDIT: Holy shit I made it!
