Speaking of Charter...
That Charter post a little while ago reminded me of this blog post a friend of mine put up over the weekend. I am reposting it here (with permission) because it just so fully captures the angst of dealing with a company like this.
Edited to add this true story: I was talking to my dad this weekend and mentioned my friend's woes with Charter. He reminded me that his company used Charter internet until about 6 months ago. The problem was that it would just cut out all the time, and when it was up, it was slow as Christmas. They had half a dozen techs out there to try to figure it out, and no one had a clue. The breaking point was when the last tech showed up and my dad recognized him as a truck driver / warehouse worker he had fired months before because he couldn't do that job. The contract with Charter was broken shortly thereafter.

Just what everyone didn't want: More Charter!
Not one to miss "bash on Charter" train today, I thought I'd chip in with our experience.
I'm hopeful that they're finally getting their act together (at least in the Pacific Northwest where we're located). Their new network guys here, while knowledgeable and nice, seem to be very overburdened with cleaning things up.
We have a Charter fiber connection to supplement some of our other links at one of our locations. When we were sold on it, we were told that they could support giving us a full BGP feed of all Internet routes. Well, things started to get interesting from there:
( Cut for long, possibly boring, technical content. If you don't speak BGP, you might want to ignore. )
