It's my last day in the TS business.

Suggestions? :>

My company provides connectivity to business parks... we run in a big fat connection, and split it out into a number of plain CAT5 10/100 base ethernet connections within the business park.

One customer at one of these parks was moving to a larger unit, and had a job booked in for tomorrow to have their connection repatched to the new unit. This morning they phoned up as they were having throughput and connectivity problems.

After the diagnostics on the switch showed a few CRC errors on the port, but nothing else amiss, we dispatched an engineer. The engineer arrived on site to find that the customer had repatched themselves - don't ask me why or how they were allowed into the comms room. The original CAT5 ran 70 metres out to their old unit. They had fed this into another patch point within the old unit, which ran another 70 meters BACK to the rack holding our switch and the park's patch panels, and then a third patch out to the new unit... more than trippling the length of the CAT5 cable and going about 120 metres over the CAT5 specification.

Frankly, I was amazed they still had a connection at all (60Kbps instead of the 2Mbps they were supposed to have).
