I have the sad fortune of working as a student tech for IT at a small college. I can recall vividly the (most recent) moment I became a magician as well as a tech. Let me tell you about it... (no, really, let me, it's therapeutic)

Innocent Me: I.T, this is Krista.
Demon User: I need to get into my phonemail.
Innocent Me: Alright... what's the problem?
Demon User: I can't remember the second set of numbers. I can remember my extension, but not my numbers.
Me: You mean your password?
Demon User: ... well, yeah, i guess if you want to call it my password. *grumble grumble*
Me: Okay... have you tried going through the student access page to reset your password using your id and such? I can do it for you if you give me your Student I.D. and pin.
D. U.: Can't you hear me? I just need that second set of numbers!
Me: ...right... But, you see, I'm not authorized to just reset it and I can't really look it up unless I know who you are. I can set up a ticket if you don't want to -
D.U.: I DON'T WANT A TICKET, I WANT MY PHONEMAIL!
Me: Well, I can't very well help you if i don't know who you-
D.U.: TYPICAL I.T. RESPONSE, CAN'T DO IT!
*click of user hanging up*

yes! without knowing who you are, your student i.d., or ANYTHING AT ALL, i can give you that magic set of numbers that will open your phonemail box! For my next trick, penguins will come to the office and put me out of my misery! TA DA!
