I'm going to strangle the creator of System Restore.

It's currently disabled. And it's bad enough that I just finished wrestling with an overzealous firewall, _AND_ i'm sick, but For a program that's currently disabled, it's taking up a HELL of a lot of space of my hard drive.

1.91 Gigs.

one point nine - freaking - one gigabytes.

C:\strangle /sysrestore -creator

re-enable it, manually turn off monitoring on drive c, wait a few minutes, and then disable it again. That should clear out the cache. Or you can give yourself permissions on the hidden "System Volume Information" folder and manually delete any _restore... folders in it.

enable system restore and manually set its filesize back to 0 then reboot then disable and reboot again. it should relenquish the 2 gigs of space.

i had this happen when i was realiseing it was saving 9 GB of data and harboring 12 virii that my av would kill/quarantine but system restore was saving them. really sent me over when i realsised that was happeneing.

anyhoo. that should let you kill your used space form system restore.

It will create it but it should say next to empty if monitoring is off on both drives.

Go into services and disable the system restore service.

actually if your compuiter dies its all M$'s fault... i just made a suggestion...

i actually killed my system restore, because it was never a tool i needed, i either reinstalled because a system restore would not have fixed anything, or i was able to fix the problem some other way. so i finally removed it, especially after it started saving deleted viruses, that was real annoying.
