Asking me about it 15000 times will get it fixed quicker

Yes I know we're having intermittent network problems.
Yes I've notified network support.
Yes we're working on it.
No, asking me and reminding me about it 15000 times will not get it solved quicker.

Ugh, tell me about it, I've had a frame relay connection die at an office. Our district office (the busiest office) mind you :) So naturally, I had to reconfigure our office server to be our temporary DHCP server, so naturally, people were harping on me over it. Yeah, because we all know that demanding that I bring the network up NOW is really going to make it so. Hell, if I wasn't such a good employee*, I probably would've taken my time, while stealing snacks from the break room :P

So yeah, I feel you pain ;)

* = Basically, I'm poking fun at myself, but I do think I was a pretty good technician. Just so I don't convey some arrogance ;)

It must be the day for it.

We lost one of our primary Exchange clusters at about 7am this morning. When I left the office at just before 7pm it still wasn't back up, it was still running integrity checks on its databases and whatnot.

All I can say is thank my lucky stars that its not something that *I* have to deal with.

Last time someone asked me "Well are they trying to fix it" I just gave them a "You dork" look and said "No they're not trying to fix it"

They realized the stupidity in what they asked and went back to their desk.

;-) I'm good at letting people know they're being dumb without causing HR to be dragged into the matter. :-)

Ah you forgot to mention when they ask you over and over again how long it's going to take when you repeatedly tell them you are in Texas and the people working on the issue are in Washington DC!

Yeah like we can just waltz down there and ask them, better yet, we have their schedules in front of us! Normally the caller with the ticket going to DC has their butt sitting in the SAME DC office!

We just put a "we know about the problem" blurb in the on-hold message, kick back our feet, sip some coffee, and make sure everyone gets a couple minutes in the queue to hear it.
