I'm more concerned about by NAV's definitions - the latest I have is the 28th, and there is no update available yet...

For some reason it hadn't been auto updating, and it was one of those "Oh yeah, I'll get around to re-enabling that" sort of things.

Kept forgetting about it and putting it aside.


Well I couldnt even install NAV on my system today, and couldnt browse to the Symantec Security Centre pages, it blocked me.

I'm bracing myself for the calls already. You can tell Microsoft must be having that patch downloaded lots - Max transmission rate was 5K a second!

I checked NAV on my box and was still showing the 28th. I ran a manual Live Update and it's now the 30th. I'm guessing the May 1 def will be available soon...

Yeah there's no up to date removal tools, or definition lists.

Their website says they are still investigating the problem.

I'm just glad I could find it, and let the reps here know, otherwise we'd be screwed tonight.

Next day, Blaster hit.

Damn was I lucky.

System Restore is the #1 favorite place for spyware/malware/viruses/etc to hide files so that your average removal tool can't touch them. They just kinda hide behind "valuable" and "protected, in-use" windows files and go "neener-neener" at you.

That's why I have System Restore disabled. On Windows ME. That's right. ME. And it never crashes. I never get viruses. Go figure.

AND NO ONE BETTER TAKE thAT AS A CHALLENGE(yeah I figure someone on here knows how to look at my IP address).

Yep, noticed by the end of last night it was a bitch.

My reps were getting 3 out of 5 calls about it.

At 4pm yesterday, we'd offered 1100 calls on our IVR and 600 had been abandoned due to massive queues.
