I checked NAV on my box and was still showing the 28th. I ran a manual Live Update and it's now the 30th. I'm guessing the May 1 def will be available soon...
That blows. I just checked my box and I ran the patch from M$ a few weeks ago. I keep my box at home on all the time, but have LU set to run every night.
It's all good. I got myself out of credit card debt, a little more important to me than a new box. Plus right now some prices are a little high, I can save up my money for what I want.
System Restore is the #1 favorite place for spyware/malware/viruses/etc to hide files so that your average removal tool can't touch them. They just kinda hide behind "valuable" and "protected, in-use" windows files and go "neener-neener" at you.
That's why I have System Restore disabled. On Windows ME. That's right. ME. And it never crashes. I never get viruses. Go figure.
AND NO ONE BETTER TAKE thAT AS A CHALLENGE(yeah I figure someone on here knows how to look at my IP address).

Date: 2004-05-01 02:22 am (UTC)It's already hit my damn machine, cunting bastard.
Between 4am and midday it got me, when she was just idle.
If only I'd been remembering to do my Windows Updates lately.
Re: *gulp*
Date: 2004-05-01 02:23 am (UTC)Don't you have Windows automatically update itself??
I'm more concerned about by NAV's definitions - the latest I have is the 28th, and there is no update available yet...
I'm assuming that one will arrive soon :-S
Re: *gulp*
Date: 2004-05-01 02:27 am (UTC)Kept forgetting about it and putting it aside.
Well I couldnt even install NAV on my system today, and couldnt browse to the Symantec Security Centre pages, it blocked me.

Still
"Doh" springs to mind.
I'm bracing myself for the calls already. You can tell Microsoft must be having that patch downloaded lots - Max transmission rate was 5K a second!
Might save it to my hard drive just in case I need to upload it to my own webspace...

Date: 2004-05-01 02:32 am (UTC)One search page finally loaded, but no images.
Got to work, checked the site, all running fine.
Everyone's making a mad dash for the update, haha. I gotta get home and fix my machine damn it!
But at least the guys on the phones here now about it already, and can address it without us sitting here scratching our heads all night.

Date: 2004-05-01 03:59 am (UTC)Their website says they are still investigating the problem.
I'm just glad I could find it, and let the reps here know, otherwise we'd be screwed tonight.
We are getting a lot of calls about it.

Date: 2004-05-01 04:03 am (UTC)See that's like what I did, I was still on dialup when Blaster hit and I just thought fuck it, I'll do a 40MB update and go to bed.
Next day, Blaster hit.
Damn was I lucky.
I just wish I'd been smart enough to do a Windows Update lately.

Date: 2004-05-01 07:45 pm (UTC)My reps were getting 3 out of 5 calls about it.
At 4pm yesterday, we'd offered 1100 calls on our IVR and 600 had been abandoned due to massive queues.
